About Rachel
Rachel is a freelance photographer and humanitarian dedicated to unifying the human experience through the depiction of various cultural dynamics and thought-provoking imagery. Her work focuses globally on both cultural and environmental sustainability, emphasiz- ing conservation efforts of the natural world and the human psyche.
Having lived and worked abroad extensively in such places as Asia, North Africa, the Balkans, and Latin America, Rachel is able to draw common threads throughout different cultural settings, reveal- ing the interconnectedness of the human experience in her photo- graphs. Building close relationships with those around her in a given setting enables Rachel to highlight the beauty and resilience of the human spirit in the face of desperate circumstances. Rachel repeatedly finds that by recognizing a common purpose, seemingly disparate groups can inte- grate social justice, environmental restoration, and economic success.
Rachel has worked both editorially and commercially with various non- profit groups, corporations, companies, and individuals including the LA Times, Discovery Channel Italia, Chinese Department of Ministry, the Royal Palace of Bhutan, Human India, Puredia Corporation Tibet Ltd, Organic In- dia Corporation, Makaibari Tea Company, THDC India Ltd, Photographers Without Borders, HOK, Alter Urban Design Group, FitDC, Mettler Toledo, Bulletproof Executive, Lancaster Foods LLC, Gorman Farms, HOME&DE- SIGN, DC Luxury, Dining Out, Wine News, Where Magazine, Christie’s International Luxury Real Estate and many others, and is published inter- nationally for her work.
Rachel puts 15% of all profits towards an annual cause-related photogra- phy project abroad taking her to places such as the Peruvian Amazon to document conservation efforts made by charity groups and off-grid indig- enous tribes jeopardized by illegal logging and wildlife trade. Her most re- cent work involves extended travel to the Himalayas examining the impact of climate change on traditional healing practices in the Himalayan region, with particular reference to Tibet, Nepal, and Northern India. Rachel has recently completed a photo essay relating to Japanese sustainability ef- forts in the fishing industry along with healing foot care solutions for dia- betics and ‘barefoot walkers’ within Southeast Asia.
